Public Health
Public Health aims at the prevention and maintenance of health not only of the individual but of a whole population.
Its goal is to assimilate existing offers in prevention, curative care and rehabilitation. Public Health therefore does
not concern medical personal alone but also politicians and social scientists.
Health systems worldwide, in rich as well as in poor countries, are facing big challenges. Graduates from research
and training programs in the field of Public Health are therefore becoming more and more important as they are needed
to help answer questions about how our health systems can be improved by choosing the right investments and interventions.
They should therefore help develop new prevention strategies, study causes and help find possible answers to coming
health challenges.
The following chapter is dedicated to this very wide spread topic of Public Health. It covers courses dealing with
different "Health Systems" in poor and rich countries, courses about "Health Services", "Health Promotion", "Economics and
Financing", "Epidemiology and Disease Control", "Statistics", "Population Studies" and finally courses dealing with the
important topic of "Programme Evaluation" in order to back up health promotion efforts and prove its effectivity. Public
Health master programs as well as short courses and congresses have been compiled. Target groups are doctors, qualified
nursing personnel, social scientists and other professionals from the field of health, politics or economics from all
over the world.
