Research and Evidence-Based Decision Making

Teaching and training are closely linked to scientific research, its presentation and the appropriate use of the acquired information. Courses in this main chapter are for doctors and nursing personnel and all those, who are involved in clinical research. The standards of good clinical practice and the scientifically correct way of conducting clinical studies are taught through courses and workshops. At the same time this chapter includes courses promoting evidence based medicine, helping doctors and nursing staff to find the right decisions when it comes to diagnosis, therapy and care in order to provide patients with the best possible treatment. Working according to good clinical practice and the critical appraisal of new therapeutic approaches are very valuable contributions to the ongoing development of health systems in industrialised as well as developing countries.

In this chapter a very broad approach was chosen by including courses focusing on the topics: "Clinical Research", "Evidence-Based Medicine" and "Evidence-Based Health Care".
